How to Use It
The first time
Put the mat on a firm surface — a rug, a carpet, the floor. A soft mattress lets you sink in and spreads the pressure too thin.
Lie back slowly. Do not drop onto it. Let your weight settle across the whole surface rather than landing on one spot.
The first 30 seconds are sharp. This is the part everyone messages us about. Breathe through it — slow in, slower out. By minute five the sharpness usually turns to warmth.
If it is too intense: keep a thin t-shirt on. Most people stop needing it within a week.
How long
Fifteen to twenty minutes is the sweet spot. Start with ten if you are new to it. Longer is not better — consistent is better.
When
Most people use it in the evening, before bed, instead of scrolling. Some use it after training. There is no wrong time; there is only the time you will actually keep.
Other ways to use it
- Feet. Stand on it barefoot for two to three minutes while you brush your teeth.
- Neck only. Use the pillow alone at your desk, against the back of a chair.
- Lower back. Roll the mat and place it under your lumbar curve while lying down.
Looking after it
Wipe the spikes with a damp cloth. The cover unzips for washing. Air dry — never a tumble dryer, the heat can warp the discs.
When not to use it
If you are pregnant, have a skin condition where you would lie, take blood thinners, or have a heart condition or a pacemaker — talk to your doctor first. Do not use it on broken or irritated skin.
